Hi Tia,
You need to lead by example by demonstrating your knowledge and commitment to compliance to your staff – this can be achieved through your daily interactions with them and formal processes such as supervisions and appraisals. You need to have systems in place to support your own CPD to ensure you are up to date – this can be signing up to CQC newsletter and other organisations such as Nice
This should be supported by a structured quality assurance system that sets out a planned approach to compliance:
Plan – setting the aims and objectives of the service which can be a simple as "maintain the good cqc rating" or "strive for outstanding" Then you write down how you are going to achieve this. Examples include:
Understanding of regulation and compliance is discussed during the interview process
Regulation and compliance is covered during induction training this includes policies and procedures
Provide staff with a written summary of the regulations and access to important sources of information such as the CQC website
Competency is checked throughout the induction and onboarding process
Provide a learning environment and ongoing training opportunities
Discuss Compliance and regulation at staff meetings and encourage staff to share their concerns/experiences
Ensure staff have copies/access to policies and procedures
Have planned audits to monitor compliance linked to regulations and your own internal policies
Record the finding of the audits and use this to drive improvements or share best practice
This is not an exhaustive list but hopefully gets you thinking in the right direction
